Terms of Service

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service (hereinafter "Terms") set forth the conditions for the use of the household budget app "Kuramate" (hereinafter "the Service") provided by Ryoki Sato (hereinafter "we" or "us"). Please read these Terms carefully before using the Service. By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Definitions

  • "User" refers to any person who uses the Service.
  • "Content" refers to data that Users enter, store, or share through the Service (such as transaction records, receipt images, shopping lists, meal plans, etc.).
  • "Paid Plan" refers to the paid subscription of the Service (Kuramate Plus).

3. Registration

An account is required to use the Service. Users agree to the following:

  • Provide accurate information during registration
  • Be responsible for managing their own account
  • Not transfer or lend their account to third parties
  • Users under the age of 13 may not use the Service

Users may request account deletion at any time from the settings screen within the app. For details on data handling after account deletion, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

4. Service Description

The Service is a mobile application that assists with household budget management. Key features include income and expense tracking, receipt scanning, shopping lists, pantry (inventory) management, meal planning, group sharing, budget management, and various AI-powered features.

The specific features of the Service may be added or changed without prior notice.

5. AI Features — Special Provisions

The Service provides AI-powered features including receipt analysis, meal planning, recipe generation, ingredient analysis, and financial reports. Please understand the following regarding these features:

  • AI output is provided as reference information only. We do not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness.
  • Receipt analysis results (amounts, item names) may contain errors. Please verify important records yourself.
  • Meal suggestions and generated recipes do not constitute nutritional or medical advice. Users with allergies or dietary restrictions should always verify ingredients themselves.
  • We are not liable for decisions or actions taken based on AI output, except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence.

6. Paid Plan (Subscription)

The Service offers a paid plan (Kuramate Plus) with additional features. The paid plan is available in monthly and annual subscription options.

  • Pricing and subscription periods for each plan are displayed on the in-app purchase screen.
  • If a free trial period is offered, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan upon expiration of the trial period and charges will begin. If you cancel during the trial period, you will not be charged.
  • Payment is processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store in-app purchases.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, charges will continue automatically.
  • You can cancel from your store settings (App Store / Google Play).
  • If you cancel during a subscription period, you can continue using paid features for the remainder of the period, but no prorated refund will be provided.

7. Prohibited Activities

Users must not engage in the following activities when using the Service:

  • Activities that violate laws or public order and morals
  • Activities related to criminal acts
  • Placing excessive load on the Service's servers or network
  • Interfering with the operation of the Service
  • Attempting unauthorized access
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling the Service
  • Unauthorized collection of other Users' information
  • Impersonating other Users
  • Registering false information
  • Using the Service for commercial purposes without our permission
  • Any other activities deemed inappropriate by us

8. Account Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or delete a User's account without prior notice if the User violates these Terms or if we deem it necessary for the operation of the Service. We are not liable for any damages incurred by the User as a result, except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence.

9. Intellectual Property

Intellectual property rights related to the Service (including app design, source code, logos, and icons) belong to us or their rightful owners.

The license to use the Service under these Terms does not constitute a transfer of our intellectual property rights.

10. User Content

Rights to Content that Users enter and store in the Service belong to the Users.

Users grant us a license to use their Content to the extent necessary for providing, operating, and improving the Service (including storage, backup, display, and AI feature processing). We will not use User Content for purposes other than providing the Service.

11. Service Changes, Suspension, and Termination

We may change, suspend, or terminate all or part of the Service in the following cases:

  • System maintenance or inspection
  • Force majeure events such as natural disasters, power outages, or communication failures
  • Other cases we deem unavoidable

If we terminate the Service, we will provide at least 30 days' notice through the app or our website. Upon termination, we will endeavor to provide means for Users to export their data or ensure a sufficient grace period.

We are not liable for damages incurred by Users due to changes, suspension, or termination of the Service, except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence.

12. Disclaimer

  • We do not warrant that the Service is suitable for any particular purpose of the User, or that it has the expected functionality, accuracy, or usefulness, or that it will operate without defects.
  • We are not liable for any damages incurred by Users arising from the use of the Service, except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence.
  • We are not liable for the loss or corruption of data stored by Users in the Service, except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence. Please back up important data yourself.
  • We are not responsible for issues arising from failures or specification changes of third-party services used by the Service (such as Apple, Google, Firebase, etc.), except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence.

13. Limitation of Liability

Except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence, our liability for damages to Users in connection with these Terms shall be limited to the greater of (a) the total amount of fees paid by the User for the Service during the 12 months preceding the date the damage occurred, or (b) USD $5.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may change these Terms as needed. When making changes, we will announce the revised Terms and the effective date at least 14 days prior to the effective date through in-app notifications or on our website. However, changes that benefit Users may take effect immediately on the effective date.

If a User continues to use the Service after the effective date of revised Terms, the User is deemed to have agreed to the revised Terms. Users who do not agree to the changes may terminate their use of the Service by deleting their account before the effective date.

15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan.

The parties agree that the Tokyo District Court shall be one of the courts of first instance for any disputes arising in connection with these Terms. This does not prevent consumers from filing claims in courts with jurisdiction under applicable law.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by law, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
